Some of the senior pupils who study Spanish at Highclare School enjoyed a trip to the Spanish Restaurant, Don Diego in Sutton Coldfield. They ordered their tapas in Spanish and everyone was very brave, trying all kinds of exotic foods. Most even tried fish with heads on! A good time was had by all.
Highclare School Junior and Senior choirs entertained people shopping in Sutton Coldfield last week. They filled the Gracechurch Shopping Centre with the sound of Christmas carols and festive songs. Pupils, parents and staff enjoyed an evening of celebration at Senior School Speech Night. Many past pupils, together with their parents, came to receive their A level certificates from guest speaker, Sir Robert Dowling. GCSE and subject prizes were also awarded, together with prizes throughout the school for effort and achievement.
The pupils at Highclare St Paul’s took part in a lovely remembrance Assembly lead by J6P. Pupils were invited to come into school dressed in their Brownies, Girl Guides, Beavers or Scout Uniforms. The children sang the poppy songs beautifully and the assembly finished with Mr Richard Owen singing “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables….
J2 enjoyed a great experience when they visited Pizza Express. They put on chefs hats and aprons before rolling their sleeves up to stretch the pizza dough. Exemplary behaviour as usual- well done.
Congratulations to Niamh, Marika and Evanne for successfully auditioning for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Chorus choir. What a fantastic finale to the J2P history topic on Florence Nightingale. Our School Nurse visited the class to talk about modern day nursing. The children were able to see first-hand how stethoscopes are used and they also watched 'Florence Nightingale' have her blood pressure taken. What a brilliant experience for the children.
