Mrs Bennett’s Bulletin Tuesday 12 March 2024

Posted: 12th March 2024

Good morning, Prep School family,

I hope you are all well and enjoyed a lovely weekend. I had so much fun deep cleaning the bathrooms (not), meeting friends and going on plenty of long walks. Sunday was occupied with cooking a roast dinner for my family and getting ready for the week ahead. The rock n roll life style that I lead!

Personally, March is a tricky month for me, the first few weeks especially. It’s a time of reflection, memories and emotions. It is a time I am extremely grateful for my family, friends and day to day school life to keep me busy and distracted. It’s such a beautiful time of year – the blossom is beginning to flower, the sun is usually out (seemingly not much this year, yet!) more and the days are getting longer and lighter. March, for me, is the time of the year I am slightly more sentimental than usual, that I occasionally show emotions (this is a big thing to admit coming from the ice queen herself) and I appreciate everyone and everything a little bit more than usual. I also recognise that I might not be the best company for a few weeks that I might not be the best kind of friend as I can be distracted and not fully focused on other people and I also know that this manifestation of myself will not last for long and soon, I will emerge on the other side and be my usual self again.

I am sharing this as a reminder that it is ok not to be ok at times. It is ok to have days when things are harder than others. It is ok to have mixed emotions. It is ok to want to hide away from everything at times. We are all human, we all have different emotions and feelings and we all deal with situations so differently. Just remember that we also have friends and family that care about us immeasurable. It is ok to talk to people or just sit in silence and be. It is also ok to ask for help if you need it. The greatest strength someone can show is asking for help.

Look after yourselves and each other this month – you are all so special.

Quote of the week: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi.

Well-being tasks for this week: These tasks are based on Mindful March. They are meant to give us chance to pause, breathe and notice so we can respond more mindfully each day.

Tuesday 12 March– Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying

Wednesday 13 March – Pause and just watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today

Thursday 14 March – Find ways to enjoy and chores or tasks that you do

Friday 15 March – Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat. Do this on a regular basis

Saturday 16 March – Get absorbed into an interesting or creative activity

Sunday 17 March – Look around and spot three things that you find unusual or pleasant

Monday 18 March– Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels

Jokes of the week:

What is the best way to know that flowers are friendly?

Flowers always have a lot of new buds!

What do you think the big flower says to the small flower?

You are growing up fast bud!

Why does the letter A like flowers?

Because a ‘b’ comes after it.

What do you think the seed keeps saying to the flower?

Hi, Bloomer!

Name the flower that everyone happens to have on their faces?

Tulips!

Conversation starters:

If you could meet someone from the past, who would it be?

Has there ever been a question that you wanted to ask but didn’t?

5 things that I am grateful for or looking forward to this week:

Can you try this simple exercise in gratitude and positivity?

  1. I am looking forward to the Spring concert on Monday
  2. I am looking forward to getting my car cleaned at the weekend
  3. I am looking forward to seeing my dad as he has been away
  4. I am grateful for the kind man who, in the pouring rain, returned my trolley for me in the Sainsbury’s car park
  5. I am grateful for the daffodils that are starting to flower

Sleeps til Santa: 287 sleeps. . .

Have a super week and have lots of fun. Now the nights are getting lighter, try to get outside and get lots of fresh air – its good for the soul.

With much love,

Mrs Bennett
