We have been super impressed by the enthusiasm of the Highclare community as they have embraced this years Highclare Hike challenge! Thank you to all those who have taken part; walked, cycled, swam, quad biked, shared our JustGiving page and donated in support of our four very worthy local charities.
Despite dealing with some very British weather the final weekend of hiking saw the total monies raised reach just over £700 and added an additional 208 miles to our running total.
This is just enough (with a little help from boat and aviation) to be able to take in Glasgow on our journey, the site of the last Commonwealth games to be held in the UK in 2014. Full details of our journey from Highclare School to Hamilton, Canada are as follows:
Stage 1 – Birmingham to Ayr via Glasgow on foot (233 miles)
Stage 2 – Glasgow to Londonderry via boat
Stage 3 – Londonderry to Galway on foot (221 miles)
Stage 4 – Galway to Saint Lewis, Canada via Highclare Air
Stage 5 – Saint Lewis to Hamilton (1246 miles)
Total Distance needed (on foot) = 1703 miles
Total distance achieved = 1729.7 miles
Congratulations
