The Annual Highclare Hike Returns!

Posted: 27th April 2021

The Challenge

As a school community, we will walk, run or cycle from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the host city of the very first Commonwealth Games, in 1932.

This is a hugely exciting challenge, which will keep us active, unite us together and support others as we raise funds through sponsorship for 4 key charities:

  • Shoe Aid
  • TAWS (The Active Wellbeing Society)
  • St Basils
  • Erdington Food Bank

Timing

The event will take place between Saturday 1 May and Monday 3 May, over the Bank holiday weekend. Miles can be logged, using the links on Highclare Virtual (see below).

Joining In

We encourage everyone in our community to take part; pupils, family members, staff and Alumni.  Participation will be recorded by logging your mileage on Highclare Virtual (HV):

Highclare Preparatory School:

Sponsorship

A school sponsorship page has been set up for donations on Just Giving here.

There is no minimum requirement to participate and every penny will be appreciated.  Funds raised will be shared between:

  • Shoe Aid
  • TAWS (The Active Wellbeing Society)
  • St Basils
  • Erdington Food Bank

House Points

Every pupil who participates will earn points for their House.

Share your ‘Journey’

As mileage is logged on Highclare Virtual, we aim to share our current ‘location’ as we travel towards Ontario. Keep up to date by following Highclare School on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Please do share with us your pictures as you take part by uploading to HV or by emailing Mrs Moore (seniorhead@highclareschool.co.uk) or Mrs Bennett (prephead@highclareschool.co.uk) or, when posting on social media, by adding #HighclareHike to posts.

It has never been more important to come together and show how much we care.

Senior School and Sixth Form Open Evening

On Thursday 10 October, we are holding our Senior School and Sixth Form Open Evening from 4:30-7pm.

Come and experience a whistle-stop tour of the school, as we demonstrate a typical day at Highclare. Any questions you may have will be answered as you move around the school and speak to staff and students alike. Teaching staff are highly motivated professionals with a wealth of experience that they are keen to share! There will also be two addresses by the Head, so ensure you arrive in plenty of time in order that you do not miss out.

We still have a very small number of places left if you are interested in attending this event!

Please book by contacting the admissions department. You can do this by calling 0121 373 7400, emailing highclare.admissions@highclare.co.uk, or filling out the form linked below.
