Music Brings People Together

Posted: 30th March 2020

In these strange times, I thought it was worth sharing some lovely videos that I’ve come across, about music bringing people together in the fight against Corona. Here is just one of many:

I have also started developing some Music-specific VLE pages with videos and activities that you can all get involved in at home to hopefully help lift your spirits, prevent boredom, and unite!

In the absence of extra-curricular rehearsals and practical music-making in lessons, and because we are missing out on our usual Rhapsody Choir rehearsal today; I’ve started by making a singing page. This is open to everyone – students, staff and parents alike; and you can access it here: https://vle.highclareschool.co.uk/music/extra-curricular-music/singing. This will be updated regularly, so do keep an eye on it.

I hope this is useful to you. Music does make the world a better place; and although we can’t be in school to make it at the moment; I encourage all of you to do at least one musical ‘act’ per day – whether singing, playing an instrument (your own or maybe starting a new one you might have in your household), learning a new piece, listening to your favourite style of music, or even discovering a genre of music or artist/composer that you’ve never listened to before!

Do keep safe and healthy.
With best wishes,
Miss Cassells
