The Aims and Objectives of Highclare School

The Strategic Aim
To provide a firm base from which high quality education is delivered and a community facility is offered in line with Highclare’s aims and ethos.

The School Aims and Ethos
• To provide high quality teaching and to encourage independent learning and individual
excellence within a secure and happy environment.
• To motivate each learner to achieve his / her full all round potential.
• To develop the value of self-respect and self-discipline, alongside tolerance and respect
for others and the environment.

Objectives
1. Quality of Education Provided (within a written policy on curriculum)
a) By developing and reviewing the curriculum and schemes of work to offer challenging and varied opportunities for learners, to include the use of ICT and a range of teaching strategies to reflect different learning styles, aiming to create independent learners.


b) By providing a system of balanced assessment and communication, building the confidence of all learners and celebrating and encouraging achievement


c) By encouraging learners to take responsibility for their achievements and behaviour through guidance, training and by the provision of positions of responsibility as role models.

2. Quality of Care and Relationships

By providing a programme of pastoral care, PSHE and enrichment to enhance learners’ academic, social, spiritual, moral, cultural and personal development.

3. Human Resources

By encouraging staff to be committed to helping each learner to reach individual excellence through their experience, expertise, continued professional development and structured system of professional review

4. Physical Resources

By providing a safe, secure and pleasant working environment for learners and staff

5. Financial and Marketing

By establishing sound working practices encompassing administration, finance management, marketing, and promoting positive links with parents, charities and the community

6. Effectiveness of Governance and Management

a) By providing clear management and leadership to identify and meet the priorities of Highclare.


b) By Governors’ active involvement in the overall working life of Highclare, Governors are aware of their responsibilities and are involved in the life of the school.
