Waterfire Saga Deep Blue

This story is the first in the series and is about Serafina, a mermaid of the Mediterranean Sea, who wakes up on the morning of her wedding to be reunited with handsome Prince Mahdi, her childhood crush. Instead she finds herself haunted by strange dreams foretelling the return of an ancient evil, dealing with the deaths of her parents as well as finding assassins storming the wedding ceremony.

Led only by her shadowy dreams and pursued by an invading army, Serafina and her best friend Neela embark on a quest to avenge her parents’ death and prevent a war between the mer nations. In the process they discover a plot that threatens their – and our – world’s very existence.

All American Boys

Aimed at young adults, this is an uncomfortable, thought provoking read about a sixteen-year-old boy, Rashad,  who is mistaken for a shoplifter by a fist-happy policeman, Paul. There are however, witnesses to the altercation: Quinn – a varsity basketball player and Rashad’s classmate who has been raised by Paul since his own father died in Afghanistan – and a video camera. Soon the beating is all over the news and Paul is getting threatened with accusations of prejudice and racial brutality. Quinn refuses to believe thaAllt the man who has basically been his saviour could possibly be guilty.

The basketball team – half of whom are Rashad’s best friends – start to take sides. Simmering tensions threaten to explode as Rashad and Quinn are forced to face decisions and consequences they had never considered before.
