A Cruel Twist of Fate by H.F Askwith

A good read for years 10 upwards if you like a gothic thriller.  Eighteen-year-old Helena is sent to be a governess at Archfall Manor and is confident she will know how to deal with the esteemed but eccentric Cauldwell family who own it. But it quickly becomes clear that the Cauldwells are hiding more than Helena could ever have dreamed of.

Crime, supernatural and sci-fi themes all rolled up in one intriguing tale.

 

 

The Everest Files by Matt Dickinson

For year 10 and 11 pupils, this is a well-written thriller which takes you to the Himalayas in Nepal.  Ryan Hart sets out to find out what went wrong on an expedition which ended with mysterious disappearances and death.

Working on a gap year for a medical charity, Ryan turns detective, journeying up Everest to uncover a tale of lies betrayal and obsession.
