Highclare school attended a national MOCK trial competition on Saturday 21st January which took place at Stowe School, Buckinghamshire. This was a day long competition with three qualifying rounds. The team of 19 students from L5,U5 and Sixth Form needed to prepare two criminal cases which would then be presented to professional judges against opposing schools. It is only possible to prepare so far and there is a real need for “thinking on your feet” in responding to cross – examination from these opposing schools. We did not reach the final but we won at least one of our rounds and both prosecution and defence teams in each round persuaded juries to return their respective verdicts of guilty or not guilty which was extremely well done.
All students were a credit to the school and my thanks to them for all their hard work and creativity. My thanks also to Mr Sneary who accompanied us on the trip and to all senior school staff for their support in releasing students from lessons.
