Highclare pupils enjoyed a successful day at the Midlands ISA Athletics, an event that is taking place for the first time since 2019. Highclare took 39 athletes from U3 to L5. to represent the School There were some fantastic performances throughout the day with a number of pupils reaching the finals of their track events: Sam Greaves (Y7 200m), Jimmy Moore (Y7 100m) and Peter Iriabe (Y10/11 200m).
The outstanding performances of the day came in the field events, with four Highclare athletes qualifying for the National finals at the Manchester Regional Arena on 13 June:
Lewshawn Clifford- 1st in Y10/11 Girls’ Long Jump and High Jump
Molly Taunton – 1st in Y10/11 Girls’ Discus
Harry Gomm – 1st in Y8/9 Boys’ Shot Put
Emanual Olunowo – 1st in Y7 Boys’ Shot Put
Sophie Burrell – 1st in Y7 Girls’ Discus
