A Wet But Wonderful Trip To Conkers

Posted: 24th March 2022

Yr1 enjoyed a wet but wonderful trip to Conkers last week! Despite the weather they had a great morning building shelters in the woods. Teachers and staff at Conkers were very impressed with how well the children worked in teams, carrying logs around and working together to build shelters big enough for them all to fit inside. There were some interesting finishing touches too, such as stools, benches and even a campfire!

After lunch, they returned to the woods for some orienteering. Children had to follow a map to find different letters, which made up a word. After getting a little lost initially, we eventually found all of the letters and worked out the word – ‘nocturnal’.

It began to rain in the afternoon, so Yr1 finished the day with some playtime in the indoor soft play area. Despite walking quite a distance through the woods, the children seemed to have plenty of energy left to tear around the play equipment! The bus journey back to school was a quiet one, however, as most of them fell asleep!
