Mrs Bennett’s Bulletin, Tuesday 8 March 2022

Posted: 9th March 2022

Good morning, Prep School family,

I hope you are all well and enjoyed a lovely weekend? My weekend was very busy but really super. I had a day in Norfolk on Sunday, the sea breeze was very fresh but the sky was bright blue and the sun was shining. Saturday was full of doing jobs and catching up with friends in the evening. Friday night, however, has to be the highlight of the weekend – I spent it with my dad, Mr Bennett, Rod Stewart’s lead guitarist, Ben Mills from X Factor ‘fame’, the organ/piano player from Procul Harum and a bottle of English sparkling wine! It was perfection.

Personally, March is a tricky month for me, the first few weeks especially. It’s a time of reflection, memories and emotion. It’s a time I am extremely grateful for my family, friends and school to keep me distracted. It’s such a beautiful time of year – the blossom is beginning to flower, the sun is out (hopefully) more and the days are getting long. March, for me, is the time of the year I appreciate everyone and everything a little bit more than usual.

I am sharing this as a reminder that it is ok not to be ok at times. It is ok to have days when things are harder than others. It is ok to have mixed emotions. It is ok to want to hide away at times. We are all human, we all have different emotions and feelings and we all deal with situations so differently. Just remember that we also have friends and family that care about us immeasurable. It is ok to talk to people or just sit in silence and be. It is also ok to ask for help if you need it. The greatest strength someone can show is asking for help.

Look after yourselves and each other this week – you are all so special.

Quote of the week: “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” – Jimi Hendrix

Well-being tasks for this week: These tasks for are for a Mindful March. Let’s pause, breathe and notice, so we can respond more mindfully.

Tuesday 8 March – Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and smell of your food

Wednesday 9 March – Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others

Thursday 10 March – Get outside and notice how the weather feels on your face

Friday 11 March – Stay fully present while drinking your beverage of choice

Saturday 12 March – Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying

Sunday 13 March – Pause to just watch the sky or clouds for a few minutes today

Monday 14 March– Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do

Jokes of the week:

A Dinosaur that writes books?

A Brontesaurus.

What does a librarian take fishing?

Bookworms

Where do books sleep?

Under their covers!

Why are first books afraid of their sequels?

Because they always come after them.

Why does Peter Pan always fly?

Because he can Neverland.

Sleeps til Santa: 291 days

5 things that I am grateful for or looking forward to this week:

Can you try this simple exercise in gratitude and positivity?

  1. I am looking forward to reading my ‘Book at Bedtime’ to you all (Tuesday and Thursday – 6:30pm on Zoom)
  2. I am looking forward to going to visiting Year 4 today on their residential
  3. I am looking forward to the Year 3 class assemblies this week
  4. I am grateful for our school family
  5. I am grateful for the sunshine and clear blue skies

Have a super week and remember to always be kind to everyone,

Take care,

Mrs Bennett
