Senior School Pupils Investigate Inequalities In The Water Supply Around The World

Posted: 9th February 2022

During Geography lessons Highclare Senior School pupils welcomed a guest speaker from Severn Trent in to talk about the science of sewage. This links with our unit currently studying about inequalities in the water supply around the world and the importance of conservation and effective management to ensure we all have access to water.

During this interactive session students were educated on what should never get into the sewage system and what happens if it does. They was cardboard model of the toilet sewage system and sink to illustrate some of the issues. Students were then shown the surprising items that end up being flushed down peoples toilets. Kenenneh enjoyed the guess the item flushed down the toilet and Josh Mitchell-Storey discovered what fat and oil looks like when it is put into the sewage system.
