Cygnet School Comms, Thursday 14 January 2021

Good Morning Cygnets,

What a wet, rainy morning it is!

Here are some suggested activities for Cygnets at home.

On You Tube there is a ‘Winter Clothing Song’.  Google EYFS ‘Winter Clothing Song for children’.  Encourage your child to join in with the actions.

After that, help your child sort through some of their clothes.  Can they sort out clothes they need for different seasons.  What you might wear on a sunny day?  Or a rainy day?  Or a snowy day?  Help your child to put together on the floor different outfits for different types of weather.  Please take a photograph and write down and send us the comments they make (exactly as they say it).

If you have playdough at home you could make it wintery by adding glitter and create snowflakes by making circles and cutting into them.  Here is a recipe for playdough if you don’t have any at home:

8 tbsp plain flour

2 tbsp table salt

60 ml warm water

food colouring (if you have it)

1 tbsp vegetable oil

Method

1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl mix together the water, a few drops of food colouring and oil.

2. Pour the coloured water into the flour, mix and bring together with a spoon.

3. Dust a work surface with a little flour and turn out the dough.  Knead together for a few minutes.

4. Store in a plastic bag (squeeze out the air) in the fridge to keep it fresh.

Another creative activity is to ice a biscuit to make a snowman face.  Add raisins and a small carrot piece for his nose (or any alternatives you have).

We very much look forward to seeing photographs of your child’s creations.

Kind regards

The Cygnets Team
