Highclare Home Science Experiment 5: Foaming Colour Change Potions

Posted: 15th June 2020

Happy Monday! This week we are going to look at how we can find out if something is an acid or an alkali using red cabbage indicator. You will use your indicator and other kitchen liquids to make colourful and  foaming potions whilst learning how to neutralise an acidic solution. Take a look at the method sheet  5. Foaming Colour Change Potions before you start as it is a good idea to have a copy of the indicator scale with you when you carry out the experiment so that you can understand the science. If you are a Preparatory School pupil you will need an adult to help you make the indicator before you start, but otherwise get playing with these potions and have fun learning about the wonderful world of acids and alkalis.
