U6 student successfully designs and develops problem solving Windows application

Posted: 19th May 2020

Elis in U6 has been studying A-Level Computer Science for the last two years. As part of his coursework, he has had to use his programming skills to solve a problem and write his very own computer program in his chosen language.

Elis has been working extremely hard on his “Staff Supervision Allocation” program using VB.NET. Assistant Head Mrs Cassell currently uses a manual method of allocating teachers to cover lessons, and this was an ideal problem for Elis to try and solve using a “computational” approach.

I am extremely proud to say that Elis has successfully designed and developed a working Windows application which solves this problem. The plan is to use this software from September 2020 onwards, making Mrs Cassell’s job so much easier.

Elis has studied at Highclare right from the very start of his education, and he has been an absolute pleasure to teach. I would like to wish him the very best of success in his future studies at University, and we look forward to seeing him back at Highclare next year to tell us all about it.
