Highclare Home Science: Experiment 1 Density Rainbows

Posted: 18th May 2020

While spending more time at home than ever, my children have been begging me to carry out lots of ‘fun science’ with them.

I have been inspired by all of the wonderful remote learning opportunities being provided by Highclare and would like to share some of my home science experiments with the wider community.  I would love everyone to ‘have a go’ at fun science from the comfort of their own kitchen.

With lots of ideas out there for fun science experiments I’ve tried to choose experiments

  • that need minimum equipment and
  • are suitable for most pupils.

The first experiment is Density Rainbows. We have had a lot of fun in our kitchen with this experiment and I hope that you enjoy it too. Click below to view this week’s video and open the document 1. Density Rainbows to find full instructions on how to complete the task.

Please share photos of your experiments to marketing@highclareschool.co.uk or share on twitter with the hashtag #HighclareHomeScience, images will be shared on Highclare social media channels in the hope that we can inspire as many children as we can to ‘have a go’ at science!  Good Luck!
