Mrs Bennett’s Bulletin, Thursday 14 May 2020

Posted: 14th May 2020

Good morning, Prep School,

It is Thursday and I am in school today. I am very excited! I love being in school with the children and staff. Chatting to everyone and seeing all the wonderful work that is being produced. With me today is Mrs Quigley, Mrs Mohammed, Miss Border and Ms Kenny. I have some tasty snacks for the teachers at break times and we have plenty of tea and coffee, so everyone should be in a very good mood! Although being in school is by no means normal at the present, it does feel more normal than being at home and trying to lead a school from my dining room!

So a short Bulletin from me due to the fact I am in school. I just wanted to record you a short message. I apologise that I look so tired in it! I really should have filmed it after a good night’s sleep. However, it’s not what I look like that matters, it’s the words that I am saying to you. I mean every single one of them for the reasons I talk about and so many, many more. You are all so brilliant and please don’t ever forget that.

So each day I promised I would be sending you a life skill task to complete and also a joke, poem, picture, fact or reflection. Here we go for Thursday 14th May 2020:

Life skill of the day: Can you learn to boil and egg and make toast soldiers? Please only handle boiling water with an adult around.

Day of the year themes: There is only one weird and wonderful thing to celebrate today. . . ‘Chicken Dance Day’.

Thunk of the day: Remember, Thunks are unusual questions that are designed to make you think. There are no right or wrong answers -just your answer. The only rule is that you must be able to justify and explain your answer. You cannot just say the first thing that comes into your head. Really think about the question and discuss with your family!

Question: If we moved the entire school, with everything and everyone in it, to Africa, would it still be the same school?

TOPS activity of the week: Can you find something in your house that starts with every single letter of the alphabet? Once you have collected all of these, can you take a photograph and send them to me please?

Quote of the Day: “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest times, if one only remembers to turn the light on.” – J. K. Rowling

Joke of the day: With a cheese theme today! Just because. . .

Q: What do you call a cheese that is not yours?
A: Nacho cheese!

Q: What do you call a sad cheese?
A: A blue cheese!

Q: What is the pope’s favourite cheese?
A: Swiss – its holy!

Q: When can’t you see a cheese?
A: When its pasteurised!

And we cannot forget a very important countdown. . .

Sleeps til Santa: 225

Enjoy your day, I know I will,

Stay safe,

Mrs Bennett 😊
