Highclare Pupils Work On A Live Brief For Porsche

Posted: 3rd December 2018

Senior pupils at Highclare School have worked on a live design brief for Porsche to celebrate its 70th Anniversary, attending a digital design workshop with Rachel Richardson-Jones on November 5th.

Pupils were asked to celebrate the 70th anniversary as well as reflect Highclare Schools’ support of the charity ‘Young Minds’, by incorporating a positive and uplifting message into their designs.

Pupils were introduced to a range of Photoshop tutorials to create both a seamless repeating pattern or ‘tile’ and a single-image combined with typography elements. They used a range of colours inspired by the Porsche exterior paint colour range in their designs.

The school was very fortunate to be visited by two wonderful Porsche models later that week, the Miami Blue was a real hit! Two U5 pupils photographed these iconic cars, as part of ongoing GCSE coursework.

Artwork from the Senior and Junior School will continue to be displayed at the Porsche Centre, Sutton Coldfield on the lead up to Christmas.

Rachel Richardon Jones delivers digital surface design workshops in secondary schools to Art and Design Technology students. ‘ I want to inspire others to be creative using digital design tools. I believe in the power of colour and pattern to transform everyday objects, to enhance the spaces we inhabit, creating balance, harmony and a sense of wellness.’
