U6 Geographers recently attended a fantastic A level conference in London.
During the annual Geography Tectonics Conference 2018, top experts in tectonics, including Professor Iain Stewart, gave insights into recent seismic events and the processes behind them; including insights from Iain’s first-hand experiences in the world’s most tectonically active regions, exploring the geology of Iceland and the global disaster risk around the growing numbers of mega cities – especially in Asia .
The Hazard Student Conference always intends to ignite students’ interest in all aspects of hazards geography, from volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis to human responses and management, and that it certainly did. Event speakers updated students on the very latest developments in this ever-changing field with fascinating talks.
