Careers Information Morning

Posted: 22nd November 2018

Thinking about career choices was on the agenda for our 13 and 14 year olds this week at our annual careers information morning.  Guest speakers from a broad spectrum of careers talked about their professions and routes into them, as well as taking questions from our young people.

Our thanks to solicitor, Mrs Michelle Dean of HCB solicitors who kicked off the morning with an energetic talk about the demands of the job followed by Dr Caroline Wall who led a question and answer session about a career in medicine.

Mr Stuart Griffiths, an engineer at Jaguar Land Rover then captivated pupils from the start by beginning his presentation with an explanation of the science of the sound of a car and Mr John Beggan spoke about how he qualified as a quantity surveyor before realising he wished to run his own businesses.  Finally, Niall Hope concluded a fantastic morning talking all things RAF, including the variety of jobs on offer.

The morning was interjected with a fun careers activity which gave the pupils further food for thought and encouraged career conversations and questions.

Overall, pupils got a sense of the variety of career choices available to them and the different ways you can achieve the same level of qualification.  Many thanks to all of our speakers who took time to help keep our pupils informed as they think about their career choices.
