The pupils at Highclare Junior Schools participated in a ‘Magic of Christmas’ day at school on Friday, enjoying their Christmas treats alongside raising money for their two school charities. They were also encouraged to donate jars of jam and bags of sugar for the Erdington Food Bank in return for wearing their Christmas jumpers to school! The Food Bank in Erdington (The Trussell Trust) were very grateful for these items when they were delivered in time for Christmas, as these are the items they are very short of.
During Highclare’s Magic of Christmas day, the sum of £1300 was raised for the Buddy Bag Foundation and Acorns Children’s Hospice, the two charities chosen by the pupils to be their charities of the year. They organised Raffles, Tombola, Lucky Dip, Penguin games, Guess The Name of the Christmas Moose and Guess the Number of Presents in Santa’s Sack! The children also enjoyed their Christmas lunch and a movie afternoon.
Mrs Polly Bennett, Head of Highclare Junior Schools said “It was a very magical day, where everyone had a fun experience, whilst helping others not so fortunate. At Highclare Junior Schools we are always looking for opportunities to widen the whole education experience for our pupils”
Well done to everyone!
