We are joining hundreds of other organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day and promoting the safe and responsible use of technology.
To celebrate the day, we are delivering e-safety lessons, as well as a whole school assembly on Friday 13th February. We are committed that all Highclare Senior pupils are exposed to the delights and benefits of the Internet, provided they use it sensibly and safely and are alert to the dangers of misuse, as well as understand the risks and dangers. E-safety is discussed in lessons, during form time and emphasised in whole school events. We have held successful ‘Facebook Amnesty’ days where pupils are encouraged to check their privacy settings on social networking sites and a number of our pupils are trained as cyber mentors. We would like to encourage parents to continue to support this and be familiar with their child’s ‘online life’. This can be done by ensuring settings are ‘private’ and checking through their ‘friends’ that they have added.
