Five Highclare Senior School students – Francesc, Noah, Abbi, Emily and Head Prefect, Sophie-Jayne – took part in the Erdington Youth Parliament with many local schools and youth charity organisations. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to have their voices heard and to exchange ideas with young people in the local community.
There were two events that were organised by the local Labour M.P. Jack Dromey, who constantly commented upon the outstanding attitude and contributions of our students, in particular the leadership qualities of our Head Prefect. Moreover, the students received innumerable compliments from Jack and his team.
As a result, members of the group were asked to take part in interviews with Sky news, Radio W.M. and the Birmingham Mail as well as being photographed for the local media and press. Furthermore, they felt that they had developed in confidence and that their skills of public speaking and debating had improved.
Happily, Jack Dromey is very keen to establish links with the school and he looks forward to working with us in the future.’
