L4 History students visit Tutbury Castle

Posted: 19th January 2015

History students in L4 set out to visit the ancient castle at Tutbury. They had been invited to have an audience with ‘Queen Elizabeth I’  but sadly she was ill and so her favourite nobleman, Robert Dudley Earl of Leicester, stepped in to meet them instead. He entertained the history students with his stories of life in Elizabeth’s time and told them all about his experiences of Elizabethan warfare. He even allowed Raekwon to handle a Tudor sword. They all spent the afternoon exploring the castle and its grounds and returned to school having had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
