‘Speight of the Art’ with the Birmingham Royal Ballet

Posted: 9th December 2014

Students in Years 6 and 7 at Highclare School enjoyed a visit from the Birmingham Royal Ballet as part of the ‘Speight of the Art’ programme.
Speight of the Art helps to organise projects and events throughout the UK in an effort to bring the benefits of ‘The Arts’ in all its forms, to children of all ages and abilities. for more information, click here

Some of the older students were a little apprehensive to begin with but by the end of the session, it was clear that everyone had really enjoyed the experience.  Their testimonials say it all:

  • “I’m 11 years old.  At first I didn’t like ballet but once I tried it, I surprisingly adored it!  Thank you for the opportunity and I hope to enjoy some ballet again very soon.”   (from a Year 7 boy)
  •  “I liked it because it was really fun and we were able to create our own group dances. It was cool because we could express ourselves through dance. Can we do it again please?”   (from a Year 6 girl)

We look forward to working with the Birmingham Royal Ballet again in the future.
