Excellent results at GCSE

Students from Highclare School gained some of the school’s best ever results with another 100% pass rate and 96% of students gaining five or more A* to C grades including English and Maths.  The school also had its highest ever proportion of students achieving A* to C passes in all of the challenging English Baccalaureate subjects, with 81% reaching this ‘gold standard’.
96% of passes were at A* – C grades and 75% at A*, A & B grades,  a further improvement on previous years, with a good proportion of students gaining the coveted A* or A  grade in all subjects.   Notable successes were Sabreen Marashli and Eleanor Szarka who both achieved 5 A* and 5A grades.
“These results are a wonderful achievement for all our students”  said Mrs Margaret Viles, out-going Head.  She further commented   “We were particularly pleased with the results this year, together with our A level results last week where 63% of passes were at A* to B grades.   It is a testament to the encouragement and dedication given by the teaching staff to each individual pupil”.
In-coming Head, Dr Richard Luker, said “I think the results are especially pleasing given that there has been no downturn this year, the possibility of which had been widely trailed in the national press.”
Places are still available for our Sixth Form starting in September, where all pupils will now receive their own ipad to enhance their learning environment.  Students who may be interested in exploring Sixth Form opportunities at Highclare School are encouraged to contact the school for a personal chat with Mrs Embury, Head of Sixth Form.
