A beautiful sunny and warm day provided the perfect backdrop to a wonderful setting at Wyndley where Highclare Juniors (Years 3-6) competed against other large schools in Sutton. As usual, Highclare competed well and represented the school with pride. It was fantastic to see some Year 3 pupils, competing for the first time, doing so well, Aimee R and Femi O both came first in their events, the 60m sprint and throw respectively.        Year 5 boys relay team also combined superbly to win the relay race in style.

Cricket
ISA U11 Kwik Cricket (Moddershall Cricket Club May 2013)
Our combined J5 and J6 cricket team displayed some superb performances at the ISA Kwik Cricket Tournament. This was the team’s first tournament and all players were raring to compete in their first match against Heathfield School. Highclare opened the batting with all players hitting some impressive shots and scored 230 – 4. Heathfield responded well and put our fielding to the test; the game was close and won by Heathfield as their final pair scored high runs. The Highclare team played 4 games in the group stage winning 1 and losing 4. We then went on to a very comfortable win against Chase Grammar in the play offs. We finished 9th overall and the team improved each match they played. It was a great experience for those boys involved and a promising cricket future for Highclare School.

U11 Lord Taverners Hardball Cricket (West House June 2013)
In the Lord Taverners Hardball Cricket competition we were drawn to play West House Prep School in the quarter final round. This was the first time most of the team had played in a hardball match and they acquitted themselves well. West House won the toss and batted first scoring a challenging total of 249 for 3. Highclare, batting second, were under pressure to chase a large target but we managed to keep up with their run rate until the last pair of batters where their pair really accelerated the run rate hitting, 5 boundaries in their 3 overs. Highclare finished on 232 for 4 and this meant West House went through to the finals playoffs in July.
