What a Football Week

What a Week !

At the ISA Midlands Football competition the U9 team took part in their first competitive matches.  Pupils from Year 3 & Year 4 played their first game ever for the school.   At the same time the U11 team once again qualified for the Independent Schools Association National Finals to be played next March.

Later in the week the same boys took part in the Aston Villa Cup Tournament organised by Coaching staff of Aston Villa Football Club.   Winning through to the semi finals they played Little Sutton School in a thrilling match, scoring the only goal to secure a place in the final against The Shrubbery School.

In a nail biting final, which went into extra time, the game finished all square and moved to sudden death penalties, in which the boys scored the winning penalty, not showing any sign of the nervous tension they were feeling.

The football teams are made up of boys from both Highclare St Paul's and Highclare The Abbey Juniors.
