FOOTBALL BRINGS THE BOYS AND GIRLS

TOGETHER AT HIGHCLARE’S JUNIOR DEPARTMENTS

For the first time, our  Junior  Boys and Girls both fielded teams in a  Football Tournament, representing Highclare School in both the boys event and the girls event at the same venue.

The event was the West Midlands Individual 7 a side finals which were held at Bilbrook Football Club Wolverhampton. Our Girls attended by invitation, whilst  the  Boys qualified by winning the Sutton District Event. The girls team, captained by Eleanor Williams,  thoroughly enjoyed the day showing a great improvement with every match they played.

Eleanor said “Although we didn’t do as well as the boys, we all had a great time which is what counts !”

The boys team, captained by Benny Watson, went through to win the competition and now go on to the Area finals being held in Nottingham.

Benny said “The success of the boys was in no small part due to the valued support and commitment of the girls, hence the combined photograph at the end of the tournament”.

The winners at Nottingham will go on to play the National Finals at Wembley Stadium. We are all keeping our fingers crossed !

Well done to both teams, we hope to see more girls football in the future.
