Not everyone is an enthusiastic athlete and for Highclare offers numerous opportunities for the arts in Music, Art & Drama. Success is regularly achieved in the highly acclaimed LAMDA examinations in Performing arts and pupils regularly receive Distinctions and Gold Medals. Examinations are held twice yearly.
In music enthusiastic staff encourage even the most retiring musicians to take part in regular Choirs, Orchestras and Windbands
The Music & Drama Departments join together on a regular basis to give performances in the Senior school Concerts, Carol Service and Dramatic Productions. The highlight of the Easter term was the Senior School performance of the musical SMIKE, an adaptation of the Dickens book ‘Nicholas Nickleby’. The show was performed on 2 nights for parents and friends and was a huge success.
The school employs a large number of Peripatetic Music Teachers who teach pupils on a variety of instruments on a one to one basis within school. The range of instruments offered is extensive, from the very popular, piano and keyboard lessons, a large range of brass and wind instuments and string instruments. Drum lessons are given using the school own drum kit.
Excellent results were achieved from all pupils in the senior school taking examinations in verse and prose, speaking, acting etc. with most students receiving grades of merit or distinction.
