Tour for a Cure achieve the first 100 miles in a day

Posted: 13th June 2014

Pupils, parents and staff at Highclare School Woodfield, came out in force in the brilliant sunshine to celebrate the departure of  seven intrepid cyclists on the first leg of their exciting "Tour for a Cure", sponsored bike ride.
In true carnival style, pupils' singing, dancing and cheering heralded their departure and ensured that spirits were well and truly raised!
The seven, strong team were aiming to reach their first destination by early evening. Refreshed after an overnight stay, the team will head on to the coast and continue their journey, hopefully arriving in Paris on Sunday.  Accompanied closely by a support vehicle, supplied by Highclare, the team will be assisted along the way and very proud families aim to be on hand in the French capital at the weekend, to celebrate their arrival.
Pupils at Woodfield will be plotting their journey and keeping abreast with the riders.
Andy Price, a parent at Highclare, first had the brave idea for the fundraising event last Autumn on discovering that the school charity this year, was for Stylian Petrov's Leukaemia Fund. An avid Aston Villa fan, Andy began his mission by seeking the support of friends. He was delighted when six colleagues agreed to join his team …..the rest is history!!

The team are now en route to Paris.
