Reception P
Cannock Chase Toy Museum
2nd November 2009
As an introduction to our topic ‘Teddies and Toys’, the children in Reception took part in a morning of fun led by Jan and Rachel from The Museum of Cannock Chase.
The morning started with a history of toys when the children had the opportunity to look at and handle many old toys and photographs. They especially enjoyed finding out about puppet shows and playing with the Punch and Judy puppets.
The children then split into groups to learn how to use wooden toys such as a yo-yo, a diabolo, a pop-gun and a cup and ball game.
The morning ended with the children thinking about all the different toys they had looked at so far. They then created a dance based on the movements of these toys and performed it to each other.
